Proprietary FEFA Multilayer-Air Filter Technology

Miniaturization Through Fractionalization

Dynamac Microwave’s revolutionary technology for miniaturization and fabrication of RF filters in air dielectric medium is enabled by its proprietary innovative Fractionalization algorithm, FEFA (Fractional Element Filter Architecture), developed primarily to overcome wavelength barrier to RF filter miniaturization in air. This revolutionary innovation makes it possible for the first time in the history of RF industry to design and manufacture ultraminiature multilayer RF filters in zero loss tangent and zero-cost air dielectric medium virtually for any frequency and power, thus completely eliminating the need for organic, ceramic and piezoelectric substrate materials for miniaturization purposes. Using FEFA algorithm, the fundamental discrete reactive elements including inductors and capacitors in the classical filter network are fractionalized into infinitesimally small reactive elements. Once fractionalized, each fundamental element is replaced by a set of new fractional elements having values that are a tiny fraction of the fundamental element value. The infinitesimally small fractional reactive elements are then interleaved and rearranged to synthesize, integrate and develop highly miniaturized novel single-section filter network topologies for realization in air dielectric medium. These novel single-section filter network topologies are used to form “single-section FEFA Multilayer-Air filter assemblies”.

The single-section FEFA Multilayer-Air filter assemblies are the main building blocks for development of multi-section FEFA Multilayer-Air filter structures. Single-section filter network topologies are used to realize proprietary novel geometric shapes comprising infinitesimally small planar elements for physical implementation of single-section FEFA metal filter circuit layers. Vertically integrated multi-section FEFA Multilayer-Air filter structures are created by stacking up and interconnecting multiple single-section FEFA Multilayer-Air filter building block assemblies. Interconnection between individual building block assemblies is achieved using Dynamac Microwave’s proprietary and unique dual coupling networks which also reduce the required number of resonant sections by 50% thus further reducing size and weight of FEFA Multilayer-Air filters.
